WED’s Nadine Newsom and Mike Federspill, along with Tyson Fresh Meat’s Warren Wrage, presented at the National Association of Workforce Development Professional’s (NAWDP) annual conference in Albuquerque, NM, on the topic of “Public/Private Workforce Initiatives: Tools for Success.” We discussed the success of our 1 + 2 Maintenance Training program, which began in June 2008. This program has enabled Tyson to lower maintenance turnover at their Logansport facility while creating an on-going pipeline of skilled maintenance team members. This year-long program has graduated 20 of its 24 participants over a two-year timeframe and hopes to keep the program running in the fall of 2010.
